Mornington Peninsula Chiropractic (MPCC) respects your privacy. This policy explains, in plain English, what personal and health information we collect, why we collect it, how we store and protect it, and when we share it. We follow the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). Last updated: October 2026.
What information we collect
We only collect the information we need to look after you and run the practice. This may include:
- Contact details: your name, address, phone number, email address and date of birth.
- Health information: your health history, the reason for your visit, findings from your checks, posture pictures, any X-ray reports, and notes about the care you receive.
- Funding details: your health fund, Medicare or DVA details where you use them to claim.
- Referral details: information from your GP when you're on a Medicare care plan or have a DVA referral.
We usually collect this directly from you, in person, over the phone, through our online booking form or on your new practice member forms. Sometimes we receive it from another health provider with your consent, such as your GP or an imaging clinic.
You can make a general enquiry without giving your name. To provide chiropractic care, though, we need to know who you are.
Why we collect it
We use your information to:
- provide safe, appropriate chiropractic care and keep accurate clinical records
- book, confirm and remind you about appointments
- process health fund claims, Medicare rebates and DVA billing
- communicate with other providers involved in your care, with your consent
- meet our legal and professional obligations
We don't sell your personal information, and we won't use it for anything unrelated to your care without your consent.
How we store and protect your information
Your records are stored in Cliniko, our practice management software. Access is limited to the MPCC team members who need it to look after you or run the practice.
We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access, change or disclosure. Paper documents we receive are handled and stored securely.
Some of the service providers we use, such as our practice management software and website analytics, may store data on servers outside Australia. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to make sure your information is handled in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.
If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we'll notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC), as the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme requires.
Who we share your information with
We only share your information with your consent, or where the law requires or allows it. Examples include:
- Your GP, when you're on a Medicare care plan or DVA referral. We send your GP a report as part of that arrangement.
- Your health fund, when we process a claim through HICAPS on the spot.
- Medicare and DVA, when claiming or billing on your behalf.
- An imaging clinic, when we refer you for X-rays.
- Others required by law, such as a court order or a lawful request from a government authority.
Our website and online booking
Online booking form. When you book online, we collect the details you enter, such as your name, contact details and appointment time, so we can make and confirm your booking.

Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information like your browser type, device and general location. It doesn't tell us who you are. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and Google offers a browser add-on to opt out of Google Analytics.
Accessing and correcting your information
You can ask to see the personal and health information we hold about you, and ask us to correct anything that's inaccurate, out of date or incomplete. Contact us by phone or email. We'll respond within a reasonable time and may need to confirm your identity first.
In limited cases the law allows us to refuse access. If that happens, we'll explain why in writing and tell you how to complain.
