What you get for your first two visits
Most of the people we see have had their problem for months or years and have already tried the sensible things. So we don't rush. The first two appointments are about finding out what's going on and telling you honestly whether we can help.
New patient appointment
- Your health history, including past accidents and injuries
- Digital posture pictures
- A thorough chiropractic, orthopaedic and neurological check
- A referral for X-rays, only if your history and check point to them
Whether you're adjusted on the first visit is up to the clinical judgement of your chiropractor. Often more testing comes first.
Report of findings appointment
- What we found, with your pictures in front of you
- Whether we can help. If we can't, we'll tell you straight.
- If we can: what care involves, what we'll do, what you'll do, and what it costs
We don't quote the total cost of care before we've checked you. It depends on what we find, so we explain it at your report of findings, before you decide anything. More on what happens at your first appointment.
Ways to pay less
Health funds with HICAPS
If your extras cover includes chiropractic, claim on the spot with HICAPS and pay the gap. We claim with Medibank, Bupa, HCF, nib, HBF, Australian Unity, ahm and more. What comes back depends on your level of cover.
Medicare GP care plan
With a GP chronic condition management plan (people still call it a care plan or EPC) and a referral from your GP, Medicare pays $63.40 per eligible visit, for up to 5 allied health visits a calendar year. Those 5 are shared across all allied health, such as physio and podiatry. You pay us on the day and claim the rebate back, and we send your GP a report. See Medicare care plans.
DVA
Gold Card holders, and White Card holders for accepted conditions, are welcome. With a GP referral, we bill DVA directly, so there's nothing to pay at the desk for covered care. See DVA.
WorkSafe and TAC
Hurt at work or on the road? You can come in under your claim. We don't bill WorkSafe or the TAC: you pay us on the day and claim it back from your scheme. See WorkSafe and TAC.
X-rays
X-rays we refer for are bulk billed by the imaging clinic we refer to.
How we approach this at MPCC
We work the same way for everyone, however you're paying. Listen properly, check thoroughly, explain clearly, and tell you straight. Your first visit is a full new patient appointment with Dr Ben Carvosso or Dr Ryan Tan, followed by a report of findings, so any recommendation, and any cost, is based on what we actually found.
No referral is needed to book. Free parking at the door at 12/1140 Nepean Hwy, Mornington, inside Mornington Industrial Park, just before HomeCo Peninsula if you're coming from Mount Eliza or Frankston. We're open Monday to Thursday, 7:30am to 12pm and 2pm to 7pm.
If you're comparing clinics on the Peninsula, ask each one what's included in the first visit, how long it takes, and whether they claim health funds on the spot. That tells you more than the price alone.
