Why there's no single price for a chiropractor in Australia
Chiropractors in Australia set their own fees, so prices vary from clinic to clinic. We don't publish other clinics' prices here, because they change and we can't vouch for them. The simplest way to compare is to ask each clinic directly what's included, not just what it costs.
What you pay for a chiropractor visit usually depends on:
- The type of visit. A first appointment is usually longer, because it includes your history and a full check. Follow-up visits are usually shorter.
- What's included. Some first visits include posture pictures, orthopaedic and neurological testing, and a separate appointment to go through the results. Others are shorter.
- Imaging. If X-rays are needed, they're done at an imaging clinic, and whether you pay anything depends on that clinic.
- Your cover. Private health extras, Medicare, DVA, WorkSafe or TAC can all change your out-of-pocket cost.
- How many visits you need. The total cost of care depends on what your check finds and how you respond, which is why it's worth asking for a clear explanation up front.

Ways to reduce the cost of seeing a chiropractor
Private health insurance
Many extras policies include chiropractic. How much comes back depends on your fund and your level of cover. At MPCC, HICAPS is on the desk, so you can claim on the spot with funds such as Medibank, Bupa, HCF, nib, HBF, Australian Unity, ahm and more, and just pay the gap.
Medicare GP care plan
If you have a chronic condition, your GP may put you on a chronic condition management plan (often still called a care plan or EPC) and refer you to a chiropractor. Medicare then pays $63.40 per eligible visit, for up to 5 allied health visits a calendar year in total, shared across chiro, physio, podiatry and others. DVA
Gold Card holders, and White Card holders for accepted conditions, can be seen with a GP referral. We bill DVA directly. See DVA.
WorkSafe and TAC

We only refer for X-rays when your history and check point to them. The imaging clinic we refer to bulk bills X-rays our chiropractors request.

We don't quote the total cost of care on the phone, because we haven't checked you yet. Instead:
- New patient appointment. A thorough check of your spine, joints and nerves, plus your story and posture pictures. Whether you're adjusted on the first visit is up to the clinical judgement of your chiropractor. Often more testing comes first.
- Report of findings appointment. We explain what we found and whether we can help. If we can, we tell you what care involves, what we'll do, what you'll do and what it costs, before you decide anything.
